OLD MAN’S CAVE (9 miles)
Old Man's Cave is the most popular and iconic natural attraction located inside Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio. This deep, sandstone gorge features massive recess caves, dramatic cliffs, carved rock tunnels, and stunning waterfalls. The area gets its unique name from Richard Rowe, a 19th-century hermit who lived inside the large recess cave and is reportedly buried beneath its rocky ledge.
CONKLE’S HOLLOW STATE NATURE PRESERVE (7 miles)
Conkle’s Hollow State Nature Preserve is an 87-acre sanctuary located in the heart of Hocking Hills region in Rockbridge, Ohio. Characterized by its sheer Black Hand sandstone cliffs that rise nearly 200 feet above a deep, cool valley floor and is considered one of the deepest gorges in the state. Because it is a strictly protected nature preserve operated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), the emphasis here is on habitat preservation.
CEDAR FALLS (11 miles)
Cedar Falls is the largest waterfall by volume in Ohio’s Hocking Hills State Park. Located in Logan, OH, the 50-foot waterfall is reached via a 0.5-mile moderate trail that winds through a deep, hemlock-shaded gorge.
ASH CAVE (14 miles)
Ash Cave is the largest recess cave in Ohio, featuring a massive 700-foot horseshoe-shaped sandstone overhang and a seasonal waterfall. Located in the southernmost region of Hocking Hills State Park, the 0.5-mile trail provides an accessible, family-friendly hike.
ROCK HOUSE (6 miles)
Rock House is widely recognized as the only true cave located within Hocking Hills State Park. Unlike the region's famous recess caves (like Ash Cave), it is a fully enclosed, tunnel-like corridor situated midway up a 150-foot cliff of Blackhand sandstone. The cavern measures 200 feet long, 25 feet high, and features seven natural Gothic-arched windows that illuminate the interior with columns of forest light.
